Denver Criminal Defense Law Firm Will Help Get Your License Reinstated
Castle Rock DUI Defense Attorney Provides Assistance to Get You Back on the Road
A driver in Colorado who has had their driver’s license suspended, revoked, canceled, or denied must go through a process known as reinstatement to get their driving privileges restored. The process can only happen after the conditions of the revocation, suspension, cancellation, or denial have been satisfied and you have served all the time required on all the restraint actions.
Steps to Get Your Colorado License Reinstated after a DUI
After you have identified and satisfied your specific reinstatement requirements, most Colorado full service driver’s license offices will be able to reinstate suspensions if you follow these steps:
- Complete the Application for Reinstatement form and return it to the Colorado Department of Motor Vehicles.
- Pay the required $95 reinstatement fee.
- Purchase and carry SR22 vehicle liability insurance for one year. If you have a prior alcohol violation or were involved in an accident, you will have an SR22 insurance requirement for three years.
- Complete a Level 1 alcohol education course.
- Successfully test for a new license by taking the eye, written, and driving tests.
It is important to note that you must wait until your eligibility date to actually receive your driver’s license. However, you must begin the reinstatement process one month earlier than the eligibility date.
